This is probably a stupid question, but I'm asking it. I'm assembling my drive shaft that I disassembled a decade ago. Does it matter which end the trans yoke goes on. The ends look the same, but thought I'd double check. Thanks
Yo might want to read through the entire research report topic thread in case there are any differences. If you still have the tube paint markings fro the factory those should be closer to the front end. I'm not certain but I think if any balancing weights were added they are toward the front end.

I read the report, there's no mention of transmission or differential specific ends. The paint marks are long gone. The shaft has balancing weights on both ends. Thanks
Original driveshafts have a part number on the yoke, close to the weld line - check and see if they are different end to end.
I've usually seen the weights on the tailshaft end of the shaft; not to say they couldn't be added to both ends to balance the shaft correctly.

It appears I have a bastardized drive shaft. I bought it a number of years ago and took the sellers word it was for a 68 Camaro. It has the 400 yoke with the holes in all the yokes for the plastic injection as 68's were suppose to have. It also has large u-joints 1.125" caps. Unfortunately it's only 48" center to center. I don't know what it fits, but it's not a Camaro. The search is on, although I may have one made. Thanks for the replies
