Hi Camaro folks:
I'm interested in learning the factory correct bolt that was used with the original small block smog pump lower mounting bracket for a 1968 Camaro 327/210 HP. The bolt attached the bracket to the engine block and I believe the head was painted orange. I've attached a photo of the bracket. Specifically, I'd like to know the GM part number for the bolts (I believe three of them were required), any headmarkings, if they were phosphated, and whether if spacers were also required. Finally, if spacers were necessary, I'd be very interested in the GM part number and if they were phosphated as well. Many thanks in advance. gwp4
PS - the 1968 Camaro FAIM page 81 UPC 6 A6 doesn't have the GM part numbers for the bolts/spacers clearly identified.
Do yourself a favor and get this kit from AMK. Absolutely complete, contains bolts, spacers, washers and sleeve. My '68 Z pump, diverter and hoses/brackets are all there, this makes it too easy to assemble to the engine- correctly.
BTW - there are multiple pages for the pump assembly in the AIM. Still sketchy -
Regards,
Steve
That bracket was installed at the engine assembly plant and why it is orange, so I would expect the bolt heads were also painted over with engine orange. Bolts shown in the AIM would not have orange paint on the heads. There were usually several suppliers for common fasteners, so probably no one correct answer on the head markings.
