Does anyone know if the screw that is shown on the firewall for the cowl induction relay or was added for something like a aftermarket coil? This car had a factory cowl induction hood but was not hooked up or had any of the components on it when I bought the car, I'm getting ready to blast the body for restoration remove the screw and braze the hole if it's not stock. Thanks in advance
If it has a hole about the size of your "pinkie" above the fuse block going through the firewall, then I would say there is a strong possibility that the screw is for the relay, providing you have a SS, Z28 or PCR built after the 1st of January of 69 (accurate generalization). If not, then it is just a hole that needs filled.
The car is a Z-28 RS D80, 08C built , here is a picture of the box, I thought the hole was for the vacuum tube from the headlight switch? , it was almost 40years since I took the car apart for a engine overall and re-paint, cant remember, and just now doing a full restoration on it and want it as correct as possible. Is that the hole you are referring too? Thanks, Curt
What screw are you referring to?
It's just above the heater hose connection in the first post(hex head)

I'd say there's a strong probability that that screw was holding the cowl induction relay... This is a photo of my firewall in that area, and the diagram for the cowl induction relay in the AIM UPC ZL2 page A5 seems consistent with that location.
That's it Gentlemen, Thank you! Mystery solved!
Well, maybe. That isn't anywhere near the AIM location.

The drawing on pg 5 of the ZL1 UPC isn't a great one, but it does seem consistent to me, William...
Since I have the experts here, any idea of what the small hose coming through the firewall to the right of that screw is for?
Firewall interior pad retainer stub.
Thanks Guy's! I sure appreciate the help and sure to have a few more questions(some valid and some stupid!) before this project is completed.
Using the upper LH wiring tray screw hole as a reference, the hole for the relay is 1" to the right and 2.85" down. The relay mounts just under the wiring tray.
Factory installation on ZL1 #3.
Looking at the fuse box from the front of the car- the hole at about a 45 deg angle from the top left corner is the RS vacuum hose piercing.
The smaller one to it's right and just above the fuse box is the ZL2(cowl induction harness piercing.)
Thanks for the response, it does appear that two small wires went through the rubber grommet.
It just so happens that I am doing the body work and painting a car with RS & ZL2 right now so I see those holes in the firewall quite often...
