Title: Radio Antenna Cable ID AM or AM/FM? 68 Z
Post by: SMS on August 08, 2019, 02:02:10 PM
I know my car came with a front mounted antenna.  I don't know if it was fixed or telescoping to determine if it was AM or AM/FM.

My question is; can we tell from the cable type, this cut off piece of the original one left in place, or the end under the dash?

Thanks,

Bill

Unfortunately no. The front cable for both the AM and AM/FM radios was the same, P/N 3897334.

If you're trying to determine if your car originally came with the AM/FM radio, there's little chance if you're missing all the parts. HOWEVER... if you still have the blower motor capacitor and wiring on the firewall (see the AIM, UPC U63/U69, Sheet A5), that might help since it only came on U69 (AM/FM) cars. Of course, it's not "proof positive" since it could have been added at any time. (or if it's not there, it could have been REMOVED at any time!!)
