Title: '67 4-piston caliper pad rattle
Post by: 70L34 on July 14, 2019, 02:19:10 PM
I have a persistent issue on my '67 disc-brake GTO (sorry for the non-Camaro content but I know the system is essentially the same). I get a regular clicking noise from either one or both pads as they rock inside the caliper while driving. Is there any sort of anti-rattle spring, washer, etc that is supposed to be here to avoid this? The noise goes away completely when I apply the brake. Thanks!

Tony,
no stock anti rattle springs... You can use the normal anti rattle plates which come with aftermarket pads.
Are the caliper numbers correct, I think the vette calipers will fit however I THINK the pads are longer.

Another - Have you checked the rotor runout if excessive maybe that could be the cause... pushing the pads back off the rotor too far, then allowing them to walk?

James / all,

Just to close the loop on this - I purchased Delco NOS pads and the rattle disappeared. Must have been poor dimensional control.

There is a spring under each piston that lightly preloads the brake pads.

vette calipers probably would not help. My 67 vette rattled on all 4 corners and drove me crazy. That brake goo you put on the backside did help.
