Should be 293 BR. 293 B-R is for 1969. That's what my searches came up with unless somebody else has another thought...Joe

Here's an older thread seeking the difference between BR and B-R, and when the change occurred:

Yep. Seems to be agreement that it happened during 1968, but determining exactly when would need a lot of known-original data points. Expect there was a transition period too, when new stock arriving from Delco-Remy mixed with existing stock at each assembly plant and both types could have gone into cars for a while.

I wonder what the significance of the dash between B R was, if any?

If what Kurt says is correct then you would expect all of the 68s to have the BR & some of the very early 69s might have either. Just what I've gathered from posted information...Joe

Could be, but JohnZ and others have said in other discussions that the date documentation changed does not necessarily reflect when the changes happened on the assembly line.
As for the '-' meaning, have never seen an explanation but some earlier coils also have '12-V', whereas others have '12V'.
