Who sells the best one for a 69 Z?
Thanks, Doc.
I noticed the ACDELCO (Made in Mex) versions are no longer listed in RockAuto, I wonder if these had gotten good reviews.

Well not that I would recommend it, but I rebuilt mine.
If you have an original AC sending unit and really really want the original it can be done.
I put a stainless one in our Z. At the time I used Bob's Impala (carries Camaro parts too) because he advertised stainless steel sending units. Albeit more expensive, he's also local to me in Mesa AZ. I bought one for our nomad at that time as well. However I don't see that he advertises the stainless sending units anymore. I don't know if that has become a supplier issue or not. Might have to do a more extensive search if that interests you. I liked the stainless idea in hopes of avoiding corrosion down the road.
I will be needing one for a 67 - so if you find out any more on the stainless versions, let us know.
Here ya go Bryon. I was fishing around, not many places even mention stainless sending units anymore and then this ebay store popped up listing stainless sending units for various applications. AM-Autoparts in Kansas?? Sure enough they have the correct unit for a 69 Z/28 with a single feed line. I've never heard of this place before but, the price is less than what I paid 3 years ago from Bob's.
Might be worth a shot???

Thanks!
It says that fits 68 and 69. Not sure if 67 is different, I did not think it was.
I asked the seller if he has one that's for a 67 so we will see what he says. Price is great.
You're welcome.
Looking at the picture, it's identical to the one I put in the Z. Same color sock, same color float. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same supplier, whom ever that might be.
He advertises free shipping too.
Let me know how that works out.
No idea of the differences but the 67 V8 was p/n 6428068. Looks like the 68-69 and later were in the part number ranges 6428842/43/44 (6 cyl)/45/46 (dual line). OER seems to make some of the units.
68/69 with 3/8" has a 1/4" return line whereas the 67 did not if I am not mistaken. I have a NOS USA made 67 with 3/8". It has no return line.
Well a 69 Z/28 also did not use a return line. Could be the same part. Do you have a part number?
PN# 6428068 same as above.
Sorry didn't catch that was the one you have. The part number for a 69 Z/28 is 6428845. I am not sure if there is a difference.
I still have the old Year one parts book from 25 years ago where I purchased it along with a NOS gas tank.
It shows a different PN# for the 69 z for some reason. The pics in book show no discernible difference.
All of these listed are US gm sending units that used to be denoted by the PN#N
Seller in the eBay link in the first post did get back to me, and said won't work with a 67. Not sure that is true.
The 5/16 sending unit with no fuel return is for 2 barrel applications I believe, because 2 barrel fuel pumps don't have a return either.
The 69 Z/28 never used a return either, and that sending unit will be 3/8 feed. Same deal with L-78's, no return on those and is the same sending unit the Z/28 uses.
Return style sending units with a 3/8 feed line were used on Q-jet applications, like the L48 350's and L34 396/350hp engines.
The one I linked to for Bryon is the correct unit for a 69 Z/28 and L78 application.
Ed listed one he purchased (I think from the car and truck shop?). Is this one stainless? I tried to find the original thread it was in to no avail.
Thanks, Doc.

Is it stainless?
They have different opinions - and yes they have a stainless steel version.
