That's a $500/210lb protect-o-plate..
I tend to agree. I am not sure I would want to deal with having that fixed. Unless I owned the car...
If I had the Car, build a CE L78 Motor and then take this Cylinder-Block and manufacture a glass topped coffee table ,,,,,
I concur it is almost only worth something to the owner of that VIN,
I'm curious what cased the block ends to break off.
Never had seen that before even on abused motors.
Mike
I have seen it before. Clutch exploded. That what scattershields are for. Car might be easy to find. Holes or big dents in the floor.
I think you are right. It was some type of clutch/pressure plate/flywheel failure that caused the damage. And people need to remember to also run the block plate when the run a scatter shield. It's good insurance.
I wouldn't be afraid of that block. Sleeves are a fine option. If I had a 8N337xxx and was NOM, I'd run that......
Sleeves usually are not a problem.
The areas in the rear where it was damaged and repaired (both sides) are what I would be worried about.
Looks saveable if you wanted to save it.
Looks like it was welded with a nickle rod. I don't like the porosity, it could leak oil under pressure.
