::)info on a camaro sun coupe My 69 Z28 sunshine special
What year? Do you have a question about it?
1969 Z28 coupe with slide back sun roof looking for info if the dealer installed this of type of roof or who may have tag on roof track info weathershieleds LTD Birmingham 5 England
I think the info you have tells the story.
I do not think a Camaro would have had a roof product from outside the US installed by a dealer.
I do not think GM would warrant that product either.
More likely aftermarket by a customizing shop or upholestry shop.
Sorry :(
... I'm surely not the one with info on this, ...however I do recall reading a post or two over at Team Camaro, ....about export cars with sunroofs. You might want to try a search over there...
There were no factory-installed sunroofs, export cars or otherwise; any sunroofs were installed later by dealers or (more likely) by aftermarket installers or custom shops.
The Buick Skylark with a sun roof was called a Sun Coupe. I know that was true in the early 70s.
I used to own a 70 Z28 called the Hurst Sunshine special that had a slide backvinyl sunroof. It was done by Hurst for GM as a test to see if they wanted to produce it. I think later it was a option on Buicks ?
There were factory sunroofs installed, but only on European assembled 68 Camaros.
None made or sold in the US.

Very interesting-I would have never thought it
I'd install a roof skin and a new headliner if that roof is an aftermarket. Just my opinion though...
I have seen this in a Firebird. looked original?
update on the sun roof -- I was told Its called a SKY ROOF option # W V2 for the Black Roof --- other colors were available -- I don't have any production #s

There was NO factory option for a sunroof.
SkyRoof was a trademarked name for the roof used in the 72 Nova (and some other GM models). Correct RPO numbers are WV1 thru WV9. But it was *never* a factory US RPO (option) on the Camaro
Here's a 72 Nova with it: http://www.novas.net/classifieds/photoads/macfarland0409/index.html
Here's production #'s: http://www.novaresource.org/production.htm#1972
Someone had a whole bunch of NOS ones stored and they became available 10+ years ago. Not sure if that source is dried up or not.
