There is a guy on Ebay selling the Dynacorn shells. He suggests that you can use a donor car for title. Isn't it illegal to do a VIN swap? Shouldn't these cars be titled as kit cars and have new titles and be titled as a 2007 or whatever year you built it in? My concern is fake cars. I know that the experts can tell the difference but what about the novice.
Exactly! And we've all lamented that issue... Those who know about the car will do fine, but many will be deceived. Sadly, if the donor car (and its VIN) is a classic, then any sort of kit car can claim to be a "classic" Many kit sites point out that title perk when they describe their car. That's a big part of keeping aware through CRG! Practically all the classic Euorpean cars have a kit... then there is the Cobra... and clones... Buyer beware and be aware! ::) ::) ::)
See the following link where this was discussed in detail last summer: http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=925.0
The TV show Chop, Cut, Rebuild built a '67 Pace Car clone on their show and revealed it at Hot August Nights in Reno last August. Link has a pretty good discussion of the question(s) you raise.
