Hi,
Are there any numbers or date codes on the distribution block and metering valve? I know there is a date code on the rear proportioning valve. Thanks for your expertise!
Terry
The factory distribution block has a date code... Y ddd (for year and julian date).
There are also some numerals/codes on the metering block, but I was unable to decode mine, so I can't tell you what they mean. Mine had an '18' or an '81' on it??
Hi Gary,
Thanks for looking. Hopefully, guys with original cars can shed some additional knowledge.

Hi,
Anyone know for sure what numbers and date codes are on these parts? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
:) That was a 'for sure' response on the dating on (late) 69 Distribution Block, and a for sure on my late '69 Metering Valve (but not sure what the code means)... :)
Gary,
Thanks for clarifying your response. The distribution block explanation makes sense. I would like to know what the number on the metering valve means. I have seen these with the same numbers and dating like the distribution block ( example: 9 255 ) and others with just a number like your 18 or 81... :)

Here is my late date stamp. Build date a few days away from Gary's.

Dave,
Did your metering valve have any numbers cast or stamped into it??

Dave,
Did your metering valve have any numbers cast or stamped into it??
That's one I didn't get many pics of when I R&Rd it. Would I be able to see them installed? Do you remember where your cast/stamps were?
Hi Dave,
I don't know which cast/number application is correct for 69 but I have seen metering valves with just a number ( for example, 25) stamped on the flat surface where the bracket attaches with no other visible numbers anywhere else. I would like to know what this means. Other valves had 2226261 stamped on the side plus a Julian date (for example, 9 255 ) stamped near where the brake line attaches.

These are the best pics I could come up with of mine right now. I'll take a look at home when I get a chance. I usually take a ton of pics of anything I R&R so I'm surprised I don't have anything else handy. I might not have noticed a date stamp otherwise I'm sure I would have put it on my Photobucket acct. It looks like there could be a number in the top right of the first pic.
If the number would be under the bracket, it's easy enough for me to pull it off and take a look.

I don't think I posted a photo showing the '81' I was speaking of.. when re examining the photos, I also noticed the '00' similar to yours.
Hi Gary and Dave,
It will be interesting to see if Dave's metering valve is close to your number 81 and what it means in terms of build dates. I don't think 81 is a Julian date because it translates to March 22, 1969 which is 6 months away...I hope we can clarify what these numbers mean. The distribution blocks on your cars are July 18 and July 21 which makes sense...
Terry
I'm unaware of any prior attempt to 'decode' or identify the metering blocks... but I've only been on CRG for 8-9 yrs...?
I won't be able to get to this until this weekend I'm sure, but in the mean time I zoomed in on my pic and adjusted contrast etc. In the area where Gary shows the 81, mine looks to have a 3. If I were a betting man I'd say that three is probably an 8 with a 1 next to it. If it is a three, it's probably 83.
