Title: Misc. info from another early LOS '68...
Post by: hubleyman on March 08, 2016, 05:01:42 PM
Have some general data and a quick question on an early '68 LOS RS Convertible.  Ran into an acquaintance of mine last Sunday at Cars and Coffee and briefly checked out his blue/blue/white ragtop before it started raining (he's owned it for maybe 15 years).  Noticed it was an early LOS car, 08E, body number 0043.  Scheduling sequence number was F239 I believe.  VIN was in the low 600's.  He has three '68's but I don't think he visits this site.  One of his others is a 396 A/T with no console, and has the funny Mustang looking shifter.

When he first bought the conv., it was partially stripped (no drivetrain, etc.), but still retained some of the RS equipment.  It may be just an RS, but it supposedly has a correctly dated 12 bolt with multi-leafs (which seems a bit unusual) and a single 3/8" fuel line.

Just wondering if more accurate research or data from this car would be helpful for any reason or if it rings a bell in the registry as something of special interest?

I would like to see photos..   ;D

Also how does the fuel line route on the subframe going towards the fuel pump?  BTW all 68s had 3/8" fuel line.

Charlie,
It could have been a L30 M20.  My wife also has a 68 08E  (AC, deluxe hounds tooth, speed control, Gauges, R/S, Vinyl top, AM/FM,) but with a L30 M35. I don"t remember the body numbers but it is   #3001025.

Sounds like an interesting car.
That would have to be a really early axle.
