Any chance you kept a copy of this Kijiji ad with the sellers phone number. I know who has the car this engine belongs to and he is looking to get a hold of whoever had the block for sale.

(I am guessing about half of the original production 20,302 still have their original blocks, might be less than that. )

I would say around 10-15% ... certainly not half... I'd guess half the Z28s had lost their original engines in the first 5-6 yrs of use... :)
