Title: Hot starter wires
Post by: Barry J on June 16, 2015, 06:36:39 AM
I just installed new engine harness, the starter wires are close to my headers, i cannot get the bell housing bolt off that the instructions said to mount them too, when I start the car, started wires get hot, i bought a sleave at autozone, but it is only rated to 500 degrees. Does the headers get hotter than that?? Should I get something rated hotter, i don't race it, just a weekend cruiser

The later Chevy,s have a metal tube that bolts to a bell housing bolt and a solenoid screw. You can go this route if you don't mind some non-originality.
The foil heat tube also will help. But you will need to get that bell housing bolt loose regardless.
