Cool story but the new owner needs to get on here and get better info on his car. Since he thinks it should have a SS hood and a 4 speed.. It says "Duct Hood" on the order sheet that was in the glovebox.. And especially if he thinks it needs a full restoration. Id leave it as is. Its only original once!! ;)

From the story, does not sound like it is all original. Lots of confusion in that story but looks like it was originally a 3 speed manual transmission and now has a powerglide? Air cleaner lid swapped. Not sure what else has been changed.
I think he's going to learn about it as he goes :)
Original duct hood is very rare on SS 350. He got a good deal, even with a little rust, as long as the rust is not too bad.
I would still take it with the rust and the dented fender and the PG...............................It's a very respectable find and a Great survivor car
Nice find. I saw the story on MSN Homepage and was going to share it here, but found out it was already shared. I hope the owner finds his way here. Yes, there is some confusion about how it actually came from the factory (Trans.). I think it says the P.O.P. was in the Glove box, it would be nice if the owner found his way here and got it decoded.
Good story, not sure about the 75k to 100k selling prices though. Good buy on the car, I love the color of corse. :)
