I have a chance to buy a set of 186 heads for my 04C (april, 3rd week) Z/28. THe block cast date is C189 (march 18, 1969) and the head dates are C69 and C79 (March 6, 1969). The engine build date is 0402 (April 2, 1969)
I have a chance to buy an extra set of 186 heads dated B179 (feb 17, 1969). THese are 6 weeks, and 2 days from my engine build date.
Is 6 weeks, 2 days (from head cast to engine assembly date) to much time to be realistic?
Need fast response... Thanks
It would work for me.
I'm confused. What's wrong with the current heads?
Per judging standards they'd be OK. But too early, IMO.
Thanks for the responses. My heads are original but they are ported and aluminum roller rockers, etc... I want an uncut original set.
i could use the march ones!
if you get judged in concourse they will give about a month or so on some dates.
Are they going to remove the valve covers to see the head dates?
I wouldn't think so....
I agree jeff! :-X
In Corvette judging (NCRS) the dates of the cylinder heads are not judged.
On a few engine models, you can look in throught the oil filler and see the dates.
Typically those dates are not judged... At least not yet. :)
