Title: 1969 gear box (dates)

is there a date code and cast date on PS gear boxes mine  has a cast date that apears to say 69 and a stamp that looks doubled stamped and says 084 9 what does this tell me ?

I also have another gear box off another car that 142 cast and 154 9 stamp I make No sense of this  Please help ?

I believe those are Julian date codes - 154th and 84th calendar days of 1969.

why is the cast date just a 6 and a 9  (69)
