Post by: Ron C. on October 21, 2006, 02:26:48 PM
Which side did the factory stamp the vin numbers on the muncie trans in 1967? The trans date code on mine is stamped on the pass side and the vin is stamped on the drivers side.anyone know if this is correct?Pic attached is pass side date code

The stampings and their locations on your transmission are correct.

Thanks Rick,I was wondering about the vin being stamped on the drivers side with the linkage in the way,but then again the muncie shifters were bolted to the car and the crossmember so I guess there wasnt anything on the trans when the vin was stamped on it,am I correct in saying that you think? The other years are stamped all on the pass side I think.

The tranny was stamped with it's code at the time it was built and the VIN was stamped on the tranny along with the engine after the two were put together. The stamp locations changed a little from year to year but your stamps look good.
