So my buddy comes over Saturday with all the OE weather-stripping , un harmed :D and to collect a little xmas $$. Cars coming along great , looking great even in primer.
He's stoked about Camaro Nats ( 2015 I have tuition bills) which honestly gives time for detail---so comes the question : " I really do not like the small holes used for feeding the door speakers ,not really correct , I want to weld/fill it while it's apart, but your door panels are in such great shape , I understand, but I don't like the little hole---It's your car--let me know"
Sometime between 68 and 76 door speakers were added---nicely done ,grommet--etc.. My panels still present as new. However I'm thinking lose the speakers ,shelve the OE panels and replace. Agree or disagree ???
Agree, but it's your car....
If you want the OEM stock look, then I agree....replace.
Mike
Been there, I replaced the round protruding covers with the flat, factory style speaker grills used for the rear shelf or kick panels (It's been a while, the car now resides in New Zeland) Its was not original but sure looked it.

It depends on what you want to do with the car.. it only has to satisfy you *S*
There is a 69 Day 2 COPO Nova out there that is stunning---I'm doing it with a 68 Z except shy of the fuel pump ,coil, belt and hoses one can touch everything that was actually on the car in 69-70. No offence ,may have been on the Nova I do not know, none the less that car is my inspiration. Basically a numbers car but maintaining it's race bred heritage. And no big leap to put it back stock---one day. Along the way quite a bit attention to detail is in place to get items "correct" plus documenting.
However, still wanting, and respecting input on those panels---thanks.
It's a matter of what you want in your car. I went through this. My decision was to bring my car back to factory as much as possible. I had to take off the console and spoilers. I had to find a instrument pod that had a date close to my car and take all the wiring off that I put in for gauges. The good news is now I have original parts to sell.
Got an oil pan ? ;D
This is why I'm following my project board, to keep on track. However some question arise . Even though I'm pretty set on my decisions, I have no problems throwing a few out to make sure I'm in the right direction. Who better to ask than those who restored 68 Z's, and those other Camaros :D thanks for the input.
