Does anybody know where to get correct 67 or early 68 sumframe bolts? These bolts have a recessed middle section on bolt head.
I wish you luck in finding these Bolts, part #3912533 are the 4 Body mount Bolts. I "ground up" restored a '67 last year, and could not find them anywhere. I cleaned up my old ones the best I could(they were not in too bad of shape) and put them back in. I would like to replace them if I ever found correct ones. I have AMK Catalog, they have the correct (2) part #3914816 for the Radiator Support, but not these (4).
HBcity has this kit;
http://www.heartbeatcitycamaro.com/store/product/19631/Camaro-Subframe-%26-support-bolt-kit-1967-1968/
The 2 for Radiator Support seem right, but again the (4) Body Mount bolts seem to have the wrong head (the bolt shank seems correct and pointed) they have all the correct part #'s. Good Luck!
Pictures of our 68 01B hardware here, post #30 http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=182584&page=2
As already mentioned the front sub-frame hardware available is the same but most of what I have observed for the other mounts seemed to be RBW head marks. Try to find nice used ones and glass-bead/re-phosphate. That is what I did but also utilized a few donors sent to me from a great team camaro member as he was doing a suspension change. Resto-mods and touring cars are extremely popular and many set-ups do not use them so they can be found. On the other hand, NCRS judges have told me and JohnZ has mentioned often the main thing is the configuration and coating be correct, not a certain head marking.
Thanks Chick, I did post on that sight already. They are not that easy to find. I guess nobody is reproducing that style. Does anyone have a picture of a original one that they could post?
Paul
I searched back through all my picture files, I thought I might have a picture of these bolts from when I restored them, no luck. I can tell you that the 4 body mount bolts LOOK exactly the same as the 2 Radiator Support bolts; point on the end, a raised shoulder near the head, and a flanged head that is indented. Maybe when I get under the car (in the spring) I can get a pic. of the head markings.
Chick thanks, I see your link has some good pictures, now that I scrolled down through it all.
I have NEVER seen any 67-68 reproduction set which includes ALL of the pieces (missing the 2 push(speed) nuts for retaining the rad support bushing assemblies and the 4 spring washers for the 4 body positions) much less all of the pieces being correct.
The correct body bolt set up for 67 68 utilizes the spring washer as indicated in the assembly manual (68 Manual P. 51, UPC 1, Sheet D1, item#15 PN 3914049 Washer-Spl Spring) and shown in the following photos (silver) PLUS the push or speed nut same sheet item #7.

I have seen hundreds and hundreds of cars which have never had their subframes removed and have never seen a 67-68 which did not have spring washers in positions 2 & 3.
As an aside: I did not take notice of this initially, however through out my 48 month non scientific study and recollection (worth what it will purchase) recalls LOS cars having indented head bolts in positions 2 & 3 where as the NOR cars had RBW's like pictured.
IMHO this has not been covered in enough detail and there are FAR TOO MANY CARS which are NO WHERE CLOSE to being correct.

My LOS '67 has the indented head bolts and all correct washers. The NOR '67 I'm doing has the flat head RBWs as shown, also with correct washers.
Our washers and sizes off our 68.

Side view of bolts (bottom bolt for sub-frame to rad. support. Many of the older repro kits had bolts that did not even have the large chamfer which could be noted missing when the hood was lifted.

You are saying that your direct observations corroborate mine, correct?

Correct.
My 67 norwood car has original indented heads on all 4 subframe mounts, similar to the core support bolts only bigger.
If we are going to start providing Data Points could we get a std format going

Paul,
I'll post some pics as a reference later this evening for you of the elusive bolts your looking for. Dave
I purchased these used over the years, they are suppose to be for a 67, body mount positions 2 and 3. I discovered the 68's had a different head. Can anyone with a 67 confirm these are correct? They also have the RBW head markings still visible on some.
Mike
Is your 68 a NOR or LOS?
68rs327conv; Yep, that's what was on my 11A LOS built '67. 2 Radiator Support bolts are 1/2 in.,
the 4 Body Mount bolts are 5/8 in.
They look like the right bolts that are on 67's, when did they change that style? Does any body reproduce that style?
67conv6cyl... did you read this? Is your car LOS or NOR build?
(As an aside: I did not take notice of this initially, however through out my 48 month non scientific study and recollection (worth what it will purchase) recalls LOS cars having indented head bolts in positions 2 & 3 where as the NOR cars had RBW's like pictured. )
The RBW's for the NOR built cars seem to be available.
67conv6cyl,
I attempted to post the pictures of the bolts but the pics are to large. If you like I can send them to your email address if you provide same. Dave
Mike, My car is a 04A norwood car and it does have the indented heads on bolts.

Hmmmm, well I guess that sends us back to step 1. Maybe you can contact 68rs327conv and ask if he maybe willing to part with some. Are yours in real bad shape?
Mine have seen better days although are original and I did email Mike. His do look nice.
