Title: Harmonic Balancer Bolt & Pulley Bolts Finish
Post by: 68camaroz28 on December 12, 2012, 07:58:20 PM
Our original Harmonic Balancer Pulley bolts sure seemed to be zinc coated yet the bolts advertised as correct are phosphate.
Were they zinc or phosphate?
The other bolt that had me not sure was the harmonic balancer bolt/thick washer! The inside of our bolt had little if any signs of being a phosphated bolt but again repro's are. Is phosphate correct or?

Thanks in advance & happy Holidays & new Year to ALL.......

Chick, my big block bolt & washer were both phosphate. Not that that helps you much, but your threads are all pulled so maybe some one took a wire wheel to it to clean them up. Allways enjoy your posts. Happy Holidays to you & family. George

I checked the survivor 67 BB and it's phosphate on balancer and pulley bolts and washers.
My other 67 BB I gave a black oxide finish in the 80's because they appeared black then and recently phosphated them during the current re-restoration.

and...Happy Holiday!

Mike
