Anyone ever see f used for a june 69 muncie?
This is the date in question. pretty sure we know its not right but wanted to make sure no one else has seen one
The photo isn't good. Can you provide a better, wider FOV shot?
I don't own the car so trying not to show the vin but did make it wider
No question in my mind it's a restamp.....
I have never understood why it's stated that 'F' and 'G' were skipped in the month codes (during 1969?) or all years? WHY would they do this? ie. P9H30A is from what date?
This should be an H.
Kurt, would an over the counter transmission not have any stamps and that's where this started or did something get covered up to do this

I've seen restamps done on replacemment cases(they were never stamped), some plants stamped the trans on top by the ears so the side is still unstamped and the tops are ground down. Also remember aluminum is very soft and easy to work with so some cases are ground down and refinished with sand casting type finish and restamped. I would look at the whole trans to see what method was used. A big oops on the use of the F code. Unfortunately this is all too common.
Steve,
So you can you shed any light on WHY '69 Muncies didn't get the F or G codes?
.... and instead they skipped those letters for some reason? I've heard they did that, but never have heard a reason....
Was this true for ALL Muncies in general, regardless of year? or only for '69?
This coding was used for all GM trans (except TH400's) for a number of years. No idea why. There are other oblique date code formats out there.

Crazy stuff for sure.... coding guy must have been stoned.. :)
