67' without console automatic floor shift ?
« on: August 31, 2012, 10:40:07 PM »
Was a floor shift, automatic transmission, available without a console in 67 ? I've searched this site and also through the AIM and can't find
the answer. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Al

Thanks Ed. I didn't think it was available in 67'. I came across one for sale boasting ALL ORIGINAL that does not have a console and looks
like it was done nicely anyway. When a seller says ALL ORIGINAL that's exactly what I expect. The paint is way to nice also to be original.

Here's an interior pic of a 67' being advertised as "All Original". This is why I asked the question.

That's from a Chevy Vega or Monza from the 1970s.

Yes, I recognize the shifter knob --just like the one on my 75 Monza....

Just another example of what some people will try to pass off as original. I have not seen the car in person and don't plan to.
Hope no one gets burnt as a buyer believing the car is truly original.

You could help by listing the VIN or a link here....

Phillip, I've been contemplating posting a link to the add. I have no intention of bashing the seller as it is possible they are not aware of
the car not being original or have a different interpretation of "originality". You asked so here's the link.

Nice looking Camaro, but '67's did not come with spoilers did they?

That is correct Everett. Spoiler option was not available from the factory in 67'. That did seem to become a popular owner add on.
The pics of the car linked do look very nice. I just questioned the "All Original" statement when the floor shift sticks out like a sore
thumb to me.

Not only that, but the wrong (Rally Sport) gas cap too.

I also don't see any rear seat belts, but they could be stuck behind the seat. And of course, the wrong rims, but the originals come with the car.

Not a case of bashing anyone.... When it comes to restoring to "original", two things are important: authenticity and workmanship.

I agree with Phillip. If anyone is tempted to use the term “original” when posting a First Gen for sale then they’d better be able to back it up. The majorities of members on here are hard core and take offense when someone uses this term lightly, and we usually counter that by ripping the car apart. Also KIM; the important ID #’s are missing from the pics, so what else is he trying to hide? I’ve mentioned this several times; if you have an original numbers matching car, what are you most likely to show front and center?  The matching Drivetrain…not the petty stuff this seller is showing.
