69 spiral shocks

I have possibly located a pair of nos original spiral shocks.  My question is do these look like they are original? is there easy way to distinguish between the repops and originals? I have other close up pics if someone needs to see a particular stamp to be able to identify these as original. thanks for the help

It's pretty hard to tell from that picture alone. I think you need to post pictures of the entire stamping.

These shocks are going for big dollars so I understand your concern about re-stamps. The reproduction ones that are for sale do not have date stamps like the pic of the one you posted.

There are people out there stamping repros. I am not saying that is a bad thing, but you shouldn't pay NOS prices for them.

 I was able to pick up a real nice pair of original front shocks but they are dated " 024 69" . The set dated " 120  69" were to much. So I know they made these in batches, and  I wasn't sure if these would be way to early for my 08C (august of 69) Z/28, or if the batches were so large and sporadic that these would still be ok.
Anyone out there still have their originals?
I know engines and engine parts were a lot closer to the build date, but I could use some help with this.

Not Camaro, but my 69 Corvair still had the original spiral shocks on it when I bought it. The car was built 12A (1968) and all 4 of the shocks were dated 6B68. A different format than the Camaro, but you can see the lag time (2nd week of June shocks on a 1st week of December car).

However, keep in mind that there were only 6000 Corvairs built in 1969, and I found dates all over the map for different things (carpet was November, 1968, gauge cluster was August, 1968, jack was September, 1968, etc...), so take this example with a grain of salt. The Corvair was at the end of its life cycle and cars were built approx 3 per hour off the line at Willow Run, so they were scrambling just to find enough parts to finish these cars!

I appreciate your example. I know of a couple of batch dates for the shocks, it doesn't seem like they made them once every month like the distributors or wheels. Unless another member has seen dates from each month, I haven't yet.

Well I was surfing the net last night and found a supposed set of spiral shocks # 3192851 but upon asking for the date that is on them he told me 33 of 67 . I was a little bummed out because I thought I found a good set, (obviously way to early for me to investigate further). He said someone told him they were for a 68 camaro. These seem like they would be even to early for a 68 I would think ? I rolled this question into my thread because the time frame would be similar. Is the beginning of 67 when they switched from part 3192420 to the part 3192851?

*these could just be reproduction shocks that somebody stamped ...

$400 is enough to buy a full set of NEW GOOD shocks....

He says he takes most offers. They don't look pitted, so probably work fine, and if they are original they were made in the USA. If somebody paid $300 and they were correct for the car, I would say they did alright.
Of corse you can be a repro set that were made in China for less.

BUT lets focus here. I am more concerned about the dates and car they would have been installed in.
Kurt what was date on your original shocks that you removed from your (02D) car?
