Way back when...  75/76 time frame, I traded my '68 Z28 to a fella for his 69 Z28/RS.   At that time, I recall checking the bumper jacks (both had the originals), but I liked the '68 bumper jack best, because it had the pin which registered into the hole in the bumper and seemed safer / better to me.

I'm wondering now, do ALL '69 bumpers (rear) have the registration hole in the lower section for accepting the '68 jack? or was my bumper changed possibly before I obtained it in '75?   If all '69 bumpers have the registration hole, WHY did GM eliminate the pin from the jack??

Probably a cost reduction change; those two holes were also used to hang the bumper during the plating process - that's why they're on 69's too.

Thanks John.  I thought that might be it, but I really don't feel the '69 design is as safe/secure as the '68 unit, which was why I kept the '68 bumper jack.

I'm curious if anyone else feels the same way, to the extent that they will keep a '68 (bumper portion only) along with the original jack in their trunk?  Smiley
