the ads from that era where really neat.like the ones for the "stormer" thanks for posting SMKZ28 !
now is my mind playing tricks ? I remember the "sunoco" add with mark and his son which said, my dad can beat your dad. showing them in the camaro. question, was there a follow up ad that stated " my dad can beat your dad ! and has ! "

mike in canada

Your welcome Mike,  I'll post the Sunoco ads that feature Mark and his son soon.  Not sure if there was a repeat ad or not.  For some reason the site is not letting me upload files that are under the 150 KB limit right now.  It is telling me that the upload file folder is full.  I've never run into this problem before.  As soon as it lets me, I will post more.  Stay tuned.

Here is an ad for Dana Chevrolet built Z-28 Camaros from 1967 showing the Dick Guldstrand Camaro sponsored by the dealer.  I found this in a thread on this web site.

Here is a national ad from Chevrolet for the 1968 Camaro Z/28 (notice the change from hyphen to slash this year).  Interesting to note, the car in the ad is a Rally Sport with the doors open and headlights on.

Here is an ad for Champion Spark Plugs from 1968 featuring the 1968 Penske Camaro.  Since the caption under the picture of the car states, "Champion sparks Mark Donohue's Camaro to SCCA Trans-American Sedan Championship," the ad must have run in the magazines some time in the fall of 1968.  The picture was found on an ebay auction from Autolit.

Here is another 1968 Champion Spark Plug ad that features the 1968 Penske Camaro Trans Am championship winning car of Mark Donohue and the 1967 McClaren United States Road Racing Championship (USRRC) sports car he drove to the 1968 USRRC Championship.  It must have also run in the fall of 1968 since it talks about his Trans Am championship.  This picture was found on ebay.

This is an ad for Fram from 1968 that shows the 1968 Penske Camaro, Mark Donoue, and Roger Penske.  To read the copy, see a larger version for sale on ebay here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1968-CHEVROLET-CAMARO-MARK-DONOHUE-ROGER-PENSKE-GREAT-FRAM-FILTER-AD-/390556674422?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5aeefde976#ht_751wt_729

Here is a 1968 Sunoco ad featuring Mark Donohue and his son Mike.  This ad also mentions his Trans Am and USRRC championships so it must have run in the fall of 1968.

Here is another 1968 ad for Sunoco featuring Mark Donohue and his son Mike.  Notice that the two are in different poses from the color ad in the previous post.  It also must be from the fall of 1968 because it mentions his Trans Am and USRRC championships.

Here is a two-page national Chevy ad for the 1969 Z/28.  This appeared in magazines in fall of 1968 introducing the 1969 Chevy lineup.  It is a larger version of the single page ad in the previous post.  The second picture shows the first page of this multi-page ad.  The Z28 ad is on the other side.

Here is a Champion Spark Plug ad from 1969 featuring the 1969 Penske Camaro driven by Mark Donohue.  The caption under the Camaro states, "Mark Donohue leads Roger Penske's Champion equiped Traco Chevrolet Sunoco Camaros to SCCA Trans-American Sedan Championship."  This shows that the ad must have run in the fall of 1969.

Here is a 1969 ad for Hank Thorp Inc., exclusive American Minilite agent, featuring a pit stop for the 1969 Penske Camaro driven by Mark Donohue.  Since it talks about winning the championship, this ad must have run in the fall of 1969.  I found this on this website.

Here is a 1969 ad for Sears DieHard batteries featuring the 1969 Penske Camaro of Mark Donohue.  Since the first paragraph states, "Chalk up another Trans-Am Championship for Roger Penske, as his Camaros cinched the title at Sonoma, Calif., and mopped up the series with a 1-2 finish at Riverside," this ad must have run in the fall of 1969.

A larger version of the ad can be seen in this ebay auction: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-ROGER-PENSKE-SUNOCO-CAMARO-TRANS-AM-WINNER-RARE-SEARS-DIEHARD-AD-/390565258079?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5aef80e35f#ht_738wt_729

Here is another 1969 ad for Sears DieHard batteries.  It must have appeared in the summer of 1969 because it mentions that Mark Donohue was rookie of the year at the Indy 500 and it doesn't mention his 1969 Trans Am championship.  A larger picture can be seen in an ebay auction here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-Vintage-Ad-Sears-Die-Hard-Batteries-Race-Car-Driver-Mark-Donahue-/121088071961?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c31695919#ht_414wt_729

Here is a 1969 Sunoco ad that laughingly points out that the Penske team won two Trans Am championships in a row.  Because of this, the ad must have run in the fall of 1969.  I found this picture in a thread on this website.
