I noticed a picture in Jerry's Definitive Fact book (for 67-68 Camaro's) of a set of Kustom Headers (pg 103) the flange that bolts to the heads is "squared off" on the ends. I see the repo Kustom headers have a different flange, more pointed. Were the differences in the original Kustom headers with the design of the flange?

Thank you,
Paul

Kustom used both the pointy end and flat end style. I don't know why they did but either style is legit for that late '60s era.

The Kustom Equipment speed shop in Flint was a handy low-volume manufacturing source for Chevrolet in the 60's-70's; Kustom also supplied the tube headers for the Cosworth-Vega.

Paul, in our build thread I posted pics of our repro Kustom headers before I had them coated flat black. Also on that thread page is a pic of some headers that were being sold with a 68Z on ebay for a long time and they were supposedly checked by Jerry. Those seem pointed as well. http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=182584&page=18

Chick, I saw yours and the ones on eBay, wondered the samething. Jon's answer above explained the reason for the differences. I broke down and sold my Smog System, after Jerry was here a few years ago, we had talked about putting the headers back on over the smog, he agreed, with the cowl plenum, headers were the better choice.

Did you send yours out to get coated or do the yourself?

Thanks,
Paul

Sorry for the delay in answering Paul as I was away for a couple days the end of last week..... Jerry recommended a guy who turned out was only about an hour away so I went that route. By the way just finished making my own set of repro white header gaskets. Used a picture of an original set to model after.
