Snap rings?  Do you mean the rear axle C-clips?

first off thanks for reading my post.

so, i'm not talking about the C clips that are located in the diff. I'm needing the snapring, snap retainer or whatever the heck is called that is located behind the axle shaft seal in front of the axle bearings which are located at the "end" of the housings. I removed the snap thingys and set them down and then when cleaning up they got put in the trash which was picked up this morning.

Thanks in advance for all advice, insight, and help.

On a Chevy axle there is no snap ring retainer, the bearings go in the end of the axle tube with a press interference fit they are followed by the seal also a interference fit

I believe you may have removed the retainer in the bearing itself, as stated earlier, there are no snap rings to hold the bearing into the housing. JMO
