« on: March 31, 2012, 04:10:01 AM »
I am trying to determine if the MQ suffix code was specific to camaro's only or possibly chevelle or nova's?

In '67 the "MQ" engine suffix code was just used for the Camaro; in '68 "MQ" was used for the Camaro and the Chevy II (Nova).  The partial VIN next to the engine assembly code will tell you if the engine is originally out of a Camaro or Chevy II.

And in 69 it was used on the Chevelle COPO 9562 427/425.

Ed hit the nail on the head!!!

Got the motor home and along with a picture of the original car and it is a 69 copo chevelle 427, 425hp motor with a casting date of A15 9 and an assembly date of April 10th. Standard bore with original pistons, camshaft, crank and rods....a truly great find!

What's the partial VIN? I'm sure the guys at CHEVELLES.COM would be very interested in this.

I see "19B", so the car was built in Baltimore, but what's the rest?

Until I get a chance to do my homework the full vin will remain confidential. Unfortunately, this hobby over the years has turned some people into self serving interests and if the full vin was posted people would be searching for the car faster than a rabbit looking for his next girlfriend. I am sure you understand.

Yep. It's amazing how the brain switches from Camaro's to rabbits when there's $$$ involved!
