Yes, there are are few of us. I run the regular BFG's on my 69Z's factory 7 inch wheels. No problem at all, but it is very dependent on the individual car. My son's 69 slightly rub with the same set up. A 265 is the safe bet.  I love the look on the car, but of course, the judges don't.....

On a 67 or 68 with stock suspension you will probably get some rub over bumps.

I run 295/50R15s on my '68.  I have had rub when going in a driveway at an angle with 3 or 4 people in it.  But nothing otherwise...  Though, I am running a '69 12-bolt and need to measure it one of these days.  It MAY be cut down.?.?   Plus, my rear suspension is VERY firm.

Once apon a time I had some wide 50's on my 68.  One time I pulled off a narrow road and partilally into a drainage ditch.  When I got back on the road the left side tire came down out of the wheel well and pulled the lip of the quarter panel with it.  >:( The quarter edge cut a chunk out of the outside edge of the tire.  I repaired the quarter lip with some pliers.  But from then on I was careful to be sure the back tires stayed level to each other.

A long story to say that the rear suspension is not independent.  If one rear tire drops out of the wheel well, the other rear tire tucks into the wheel well.  If your tire is too wide, it could catch the quarter lip like mine did.

On the rear, I run no wider than 245 60's and wouldn't consider wider than 255 60.

Good luck.

The main thing to consider is the wheel size and off set, followed by your leaf springs stiffness. Weak springs/bushings allow for a lot of movement, even side ways. Deep set wheels will cause problems. Wheel size will determine the tire size. (In the Trans-Am section there is a thread that shows how much the same tire will fillout on different size wheels) With BB multi leaf springs and 15 x 8 ralley wheels i have run both 295 60 15 BFG TA's without wheel mouldings without problems and 275 60 15 with mouldings without problems. I also have Ansen ground grabbers that add to the spring stiffness. Hope some of this helps.
