Has anyone used this Trunk Spatter paint ?   If so, how close is it to original?

Purchased ours Mike from JerryM and believe it was around $60 qt.. He said it was the closest to the original you could purchase and believe if memory serves me Larry Christensen was the person who worked on getting it made up. Know one thing for sure, whatever you purchase, don't shake it or you will screw up all those little paint balls in there Grin

I recently read (I forgot which group) that there is a difference between LOS and NOR trunk paint hues and texture. I haven't compared my two cars yet to see if that was the case but I figured I would let you know there is supposedly a difference.

Make sure you buy the spatter clear coat as well. Otherwise the paint will re-hydrate and wash off if it ever gets wet.

It was either here http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=1960.0 or TC http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=205287&highlight=correct+trunk+paint
or maybe first gens but to answer your question: Yes the LOS/VN looks more like silly string. NOR looks like standard paint splatter.

Norwood are more defined blobs of color (white or aqua and green based on year) while LOS trunks are base with "stringy" strands of color.

There is a great photo comparison on page 47 of Tony Hunter & Brian Henderson's "How to Restore your Camaro 1967-1969" of the 1966-67 color mix.

When I restored my '68 I got lucky and scored some original GM spatter paint. Half of the cans didn't spray, but those that did covered well and gave a good factory appearance. I finished it off with clearcoat and it has proven quite durable. Hope this helps.
