M21B or M218 can someone advise as to the meaning of this code?

Thanks

Sure, that's the Fisher Body body scheduling code.  You can read more about it here...

Thanks Paul.

My car was delivered to City Motor Company Great Falls Montana and sold on 4/2/1969 which is still in business.
I called and they had no records other than they recall the original of the Camaro had passed away.
Do you know how I can obtain options and more importantly how the car was built? Really would like to know if it is a original V8, 4 speed, etc.
VIN is 124379L524511

Bruce,

The VIN tells you the car originally had a V8.  Read more here...  http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#VIN

You can use the following chart to see if your car has any of the listed clues which might help narrow down drivetrain options (i.e. small-block V8 vs. big-block V8 determined by original heater box connection location)...

http://www.camaros.org/diffs69.shtml

Also, if you're lucky enough to have the original Protect-O-Plate (POP), it will tell you the powertrain components (engine and carburetor, transmission, and rear axle) as well as selected factory installed options.  Read more here...

http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#POPCodes

What engine/transmission is in it now?

Is there a VIN on the engine?   What is the engine stamped code?

It has a 350 crate engine with a Muncie M21 Trans and hurst shifter. It was restored as a Z28 Clone

I think HC is a 350 250HP 2 barrel. Others will chime in for a full decode.

Bruce,

Thanks to the POP we know your Camaro's original drivetrain was a 350cid/250hp (L65) small-block V8 mated to a Saginaw 3-speed manual transmission with a 3.36:1, non-positraction, 10 bolt rear axle.

Interesting. That axle was a special order ratio. First 69 PP axle I've ever seen.

Thanks Guys.

I appreciate all the information nice to know it was allways a V8 and standard shift.
I've ownd the car for a few years and now have it listed for sale on "carsonline".
Sits in the garage with very little time to drive it, but always fun when I take her out for a spin.
