1969 gaskets
« on: February 23, 2012, 02:07:23 AM »
I'm about to install my heads and intake on my 1969 Z28, where should I buy my gaskets from ? I would like the gaskets to work well and appear original, especially the intake gasket as you will see part of the gasket ( the area by the middle of the intake ).

you need to get them from one of the Corvette restoration houses.
either Paragon Corvette reproductions, or Long Island Corvette supply.

Both companies sell the intake-head gaskets with the tabs, and the rubber front and rear pieces.

Use silicone to seal the front and rear and then add the rubber pieces just for look - those rubber gaskets never worked very well....

Heads; I used the .028 Mr. Gasket Part Number 1134 Ultra-Seal Head Gaskets as my pistons averaged .010" to the deck. QUENCH is best between .035" to .044". Intake; I used the Felpro 1256 intake gasket it was the correct size for my 472 intake runners its grey and looks close to an original. I also used the Intake Manifold Gasket Alignment Tool posted over at Camaros.net I would recommend having your machinist check your intake and retrue as required.
