Side Marker Light Gasket
« on: January 16, 2012, 01:16:09 AM »
Were gaskets on the inside or outside? Did all 4 lights get a gasket? AIM doesn't show a gasket on the front lights and I assume the rear lights were installed by Fisher and not shown in the AIM.

On my 68 each side marker had a gasket on the outside, between the chrome housing and the fender.  If you are replacing, watch out for some of the repros...the cutouts are not punched accurately.  Made mine from scratch using an old one for a template.

I'm not sure what's up with the quarter side maker lights not being in the Aim but their not in the Fisher Manual either. Anyway, here are mine and the gaskets are on the outside. I think it makes more sense that way... ;)

The trunk needed to be sealed. I always try to use the originals - they fit, never have I seen a good repo. Please dont use the giant ones for the door handles. . .  it always hurts when in see these things on otherwise nice cars.
