499 Re-stamp - BEWARE
« on: November 09, 2011, 02:03:35 AM »
This ad on eBay is a re-stamped 499 dist being sold as an original GM. Straight out Fraud and if they disagree they can sure try and sue me. I fight back and win! These kind of crooks have damaged our hobby so now let the good guys know who they are.   >:(

I guess the question would be whether this guy knows that or not.  BTW, he has some 467 distributors he has tried to sell and wants big big money for.  One of them would work great for my car date-wise, but what he wants for a sad looking one is more than a top-notch restored one should cost.  I kind of wonder when I see that someone has a lot of "rare" parts.

I have a suggestion - I looked at the ad, and I noticed no one has asked the seller a question.  Suggest that you "ask a question" of the seller, directly state your concerns and why so (I'm assuming you are focusing on the last two 9's) and ask that his answer be posted so other potential buyers can see the answer.

Very valid point was just raised - he may not know.....

He knows!  Do a search on this forum using his Ebay user name (cnjr107) and you'll see how many restamped blocks he has listed in the past.

With all the auctions he's been involved with (522) You would of thought someone would of left him some negative feedback if that's the case. Right now he has 100% feed back and when the average Joe is buying something that's about all he has to look at to see if the seller has a good reputation.

as for the feedback you can blame eBay... they have done something that now gives sellers a unfair 100% or close to that...  They have also removed the "contact seller" part.  You have to look under feedback then contact the person.

I have spoke to eBay and wrote to eBay about this fraud and it appears to me that eBay has decided that it is in their best interest to support the Fraudulent sellers as they continue too get revenue out of it... so what started out as a great selling auction is really BUYER BEWARE and I so hope eBay is reading this!

Furthermore I want ever dirt-bag eBay seller to know that you can run and you can try to hide but it won't help you....

He's also got a 375 HP 396 CE engine for sale.  $3,500.  This guy is a dreamer.  His Dist. auction was canceled.  Think he's looking?

I think the "theGMParts" dist 1111499 is also a fake since he never displays any clear photos of it.  However he states he bought it and had it restored or something like that making me think he might be a victim...   I just don't know.  Without a set of clear photos I would stay away from it.

This 1111499 dist has a funny marked date code. I think it may be a real 499 that someone changed the date on... I surely would not buy it.

Sorry, Paul.  Sometimes my sarcasm doesn't translate.  I was just putting up another example of fakes.  I'm very familiar with the gm parts crook.  I even got a letter from him while he was in jail, trying to sell me "my" engine after I already talked to the local cops about him.  I'd feel sorry for him is he wasn't so sociopathic.
