Smog Pumps
« on: October 18, 2011, 10:20:12 PM »
The build dates for smog pumps start out with a 3 digit "Julian date Code" then the year, and last the plant code. Most of the plant codes I've seen are "1S". (Saginaw). I came across one that the plant code was "1Y". Could someone tell me what plant that was from. Were all 69 Camaro smog pumps made in Saginaw or were there other plants?  Thanks

Read the article - and was surprised to see these were on all 69s with a manual transmission.  My 69 hard top purchased in 79 didnt' have a smog pump or any signs of one ever being installed - 307 with a 3 speed stick.

Original cars/engines show up on ebay once in a while. Ex manifolds are the same as Z28 and SS350, so those often get removed.
