A Frame Splash Apron - tucked or not?
« on: October 01, 2011, 12:38:11 PM »
Took my car to a cruise night last night and while walking around looking at other people's cars I noticed 100 % of the Gen1 Camaros had the T on the A Frame splash apron laying on top of the A Frames and not tucked in the center hole in the A Frame - Always thought they were supposed to be tucked in the hole. Which way is correct?

Steve - you are correct. It should be tucked in center hole of A-Frame.

Interesting cause I've never saw them tucked in either. Maybe somebody with a survivor will chime in. John, Kurt where are ya'll?

Why would GM cut them to fit into the upper Arm hole if they weren't intended to be in there?  What do you think happens to the sheild if its not tucked in when water from a puddle hits them going 30 or 40 mpg, it lifts it up and the water and mud spray all over your engine compartment.  Yes, these cars were originally made to be driven everyday in the rain and snow.

Yes, the seal flaps should be tucked under the upper control arm, as designed, and as shown in the Assembly Manual; can't imagine anyone thinking the flap just hangs out in the air. As the old adage says, "If all else fails, read the instructions".  ;D

Thanks guys, thought so.   There's a bunch of guys out there that think differently apparently.
