rad support to frame nuts and bolts.
« on: September 06, 2011, 06:19:57 PM »
Well, I am finally doing a test fit of all panels to make sure everything lines up before final painting.  I did a good job of indexing and marking most of my bolts for storage.  Unfortunately, I haven't (yet) found the nuts and bolts I need for the radiator support to the front of the subframe.  Can someone give me the exact size of the originals (or even better, anyone have some usable originals I can buy)?

Thanks for any help.

Lynn

LEFT - REPRODUCTION:  No Center mark- 6 radial marks (Grade 8 ), no step on the shank, blunt tip.
RIGHT - ORIGINAL: Center marked (E) - 3 radial marks (Grade 5), stepped shank, pointed tip.

UPPER of the Two -- ORIGINAL            LOWER - - Reproduction from Rick's /Ecklers.

Here is the set-up with the push on (spring steel) retainer which makes it so simple to install the rad support... (most omit this detail)

Thanks a million.  I am sure I have the originals somewhere, and now know what to look for.

Where'd you get the spring retainer?

local fastener supply house... they are very inexpensive, they are also available at most local body shop supply houses, and
i have bought them at Larger swapmeets, like Charlotte Autofair or Hershey AACA.

Thanks for all the info, and a special thanks to the member here who found some and sent me a private pm.

I found my originals complete with nuts and washers and even the original mounting bushings.

Is there a specific size to ask for?  I don't think mine had anything left on them when I took it apart, so I don't have anything to go by.

They are sized like nuts and bolts. 1/2   5/8  etc.
