Trans-Am Camaro chassis preparation

Earlier, I posted some GM documents about chassis preparation here.
Since this article is out of a magazine, I decided to start a different thread so that any other chassis prep articles might be posted here as well.

Does anyone have a copy of the very first "Chevrolet Power Book"?  It has green pages, and is held together with a sprial, like a notebook.  I'd be interested on purchasing it, if available...


In this book, there are sketches of the rear chassis and suspension of a 1969 Camaro race car.  Modifications are described to alter a stock Camaro suspension to turn it into racing suspension.  The sketches were made by Burt Greenwood during the construction of the 1969 Camaro built by him and his brother, John Greenwood.  Bill Petree went on to win the 1969 A Sedan National Championship in Daytona with the car.  The Camaro next went to Marshall Robbins, then Carl Shafer and then my father, who won the 1980 GT1 National Championship in Road Atlanta with the Camaro.

     I believe most of the vendors sell a reproduction of the Power Book. Likely the first edition, published around 70-71 if I remember correctly.

It could be, but I don't think so.  I am pretty sure the title was Chevrolet Power Book...  I'm sure the cover and pages were green...

 This is what I have. Here is the Front Cover and Index. The pages are green, but not sure if this is indeed the first edition that you are looking for.





I also have the 2nd edition of the Chevrolet Power book:


As you can see, I've used it more than I probably should admit to.

Are there sketches inside the first book showing the rear suspension of a 1969 Camaro?

Scott, In that first book there are some pages that have some illustrations of modifications that should be done to an axle housing (adding a panhard rod bracket, modifying a full size passenger car axle for use in a Camaro, beefing up spring perch welds, etc) and there is also a page which shows the instructions for a rear sway bar on a '67 Camaro. Beyond those, there aren't really illustrations showing the full rear suspension of a '69 Camaro.
