OR, there is a stencil kit available that really makes it much easier.

Page 474 and 475 of the 1969 AIM has the layout for front and rear stripes.

And the dimensions are wrong on both pages.  Rear has the gap from the rear window chrome or vinyl trim at 5.25", it really .565 (5/8") and the total width of the front stripe, plus the gap to the fender edge of the  hood is wider than half the width of the hood.  Theres a post about this exact topic from a week ago that has links with the correct dimensions in it

Hi Joe and first off wanted to welcome you to the CRG! You can find a lot of information also using the search key. Very common topic over the years. Here is the recent thread on stripes! http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=8486.0

We bought a stencil kit from a vendor and weren't too happy with it. We improvised until we got it close to the 'known' correct specs.

Here's a few pics of it before paint.

Do your research well.

If your car is an early produced LOS z28, the stripes at the rear will match the assembly manual. There is another thread somewhere showing pictures of several early built LOS z28 with the rear stripes matching the assembly manual.

Thats true for  VERY early 69 LOS built car, no more than a couple of weeks worth of production have the rear stripes with the 5" gap from the rear window chrome.

Thanks for those comments mark. I guess it would be fair to say that if you had a early los built 69Z with the rear stripes starting around 5 inches below the bottom of the rear glass, this could be considered a type of validator as being an original z28. I don't think any other 1969 camaro was made with that striping scheme except the pace car of course.

I bought a kit from Stencils and stripes and we only used the corners from the kit. The dimesions were also wrong in the kit as the dimensions were taken from the AIM. I would suggest getting measuremants from an original paint car. There are many threads over at Team Camaro that cover proper 1969 Z 28 stripes.
