I recently came across a 1111480 distributor on ebay, the seller has a buy it now price for $2800.00 bucks! It looks very original but come on is this reality?

It's amazing what some people are wanting for those 480 distributor. The last couple of years I've seen the price go up from $500 - $600 up to $2000 -$2500. Are they worth it? I guess if you have money burning a hole in your pocket. It makes me sick that I pulled one out 30 years ago and probable through it in the trash. Oh well. You live and learn.

There's a guy on Flea bay trying to sell a 467 that needs to be gone through for $1800.  You can buy a restored one for less.  He's spent $100's listing this thing with no bids and never comes down on his price.  Someday, people are going to have to wake up that the gravy train has left the station unless they want to wait 10 years for the economy to come back.

That guy lives in some other solar system.  He's like Tilly four that wants $250 or something like that for a 5 rivet fan blade.  It'll be on there until it's dust.

Both of these distributors have a 201 vac pod,mine has a 400. Why the difference  Huh

Unfortunately, it's true.  Although parts prices have come down.  There was a time where you could hardly get in a bid on some stuff it was going so fast.  My comments above were mainly aimed at the fact that as the prices of the cars have come down, so should the parts, but some people are still living in the good 'ol days.

I think there's a mentality out there that someone see's a (let say a 480 Dist.) for sale for a certain price. And tells them self well the one I have is twice as good so I'm going to ask twice the price. And it just escalates from there. I would hope with the falling car prices the parts would follow. But there are a lot of greedy people out there.

unless you have a mostly original car and even if you do I would just keep looking... bound to find one eventually for reasonable money. 

This recent past get rich fever of ever one restoring their so called original cars is the root of the whole problem for our hobby including parts and restoration businesses.  Most (99.8%) of these cars were at least street raced and beat hard and with so many restored cars out there being numbers correct matching or born with... not to mention all the fake tags, fake protect-o-plates, and fake paperwork, re-stamped blocks, re-stamped rears and re-stamped transmissions you really better be an expert on the Camaro or get an expert... even to verify a part...

IMHO the 480 looks original but the date code is not straight but that may still be original and the other one needs an expert eyes...

Back in the day the first thing many of us did was put on headers, take off the AIR system, replace the shifters, wheels, gears, etc,... all to go fast in a 1/4 mile!!!  With so much fake crap from the crooks out their it has really polluted our hobby and I hope it has not affected the Chevy history... Thank God we have CRG and many good guys in the car hobby...   Grin

I was told mine were swapped with another 69 SS Camaro. I believe it because I have (4) 14 x 7 YJ Rallys with the same date code. And a spare YJ dated about 3 weeks earlier. They all obviously came from the same car.

The AD's are out there, just pricey @ 250 a wheel as singles...

BTW I need a 920 dated AD to complete my 5.

Ebay has changed the listing fees. The way it is now, sellers can list the first 100 items free per month with no listing fee. The fee if the item sells is higher, but this is why you now see the same parts listed over and over at ridiculous prices. If it sells, the sky-high price covers the extra fees, if it doesn't sell it costs them nothing to list over and over.
