It also has a "Muncie" hole in the firewall for the speedo cable.

As noted in reply #18 above.

From the side it looks a lot like an early Corvair!

Do you have the listing?

Ed

Yup, here's the Camaro...

and here's the Cutlass...

That Cutlass Convertible would be a nice car to restore for an Olds enthusiast.    That car would have come with a 215 ci ALUMINIUM V8 engine with 185 hp (4 bbl).  Unless I'm mistaken, you could also get either a supercharged or turbo charged version of that engine as an option?

Agreed on the COOL car factor. Not hooked in to the Olds scene though. If it's still there, I'll reprt back.

The sub frame appears to be later (69) than an early 68 car.

Anyone know what size the center link is?  That would also help clue in potentially what the are was..

Interesting that car was built a week after mine.  Would there have been almost 200 cars built in a weeks time around Christmas & New Years?

Yes. Van Nuys built 512 cars per day, 256 of which were Camaros. The full week off (from Christmas to New Year's day) didn't start until the early 70's.

What's the possibility that Camaro was a Z28?  With the special order paint, Muncie, disk brakes, etc..   it was more than likely a *special model* of some kind.    With that paint code, you could paint the car ANY COLOR you want, and it would be *correct* for judging purposes..  :)

Are you going to restore it?  a few body panels..  it would be good as new.  :)

I thought I'd try to buff it out first. :)   Yes, at one point I think it was a very cool car.  I am going to try to identify what the "special" paint was.

In looking at those photos, I noticed that the driver side engine mount has one of the attaching bolts coming up from the bottom (with the nut on top);  I recently found that same bolt on my car in the same cirection (opposed to all the others);  Is that the way all the cars were for some reason, OR does it just mean if  the bolt was ever removed, it was easier for the owner/mechanic to reinsert if in that direction???
