69 Small Block driveshaft length
« on: July 28, 2011, 09:43:34 PM »
Is the length of the driveshaft different if a car came with a Saginaw or Muncie? Small Block application.

Thanks,

The P & A manual lists a unique part number for all '69s w/Muncie 4-speed.
Learning more and more about less and less...

Wonder if the difference is length, diameter or what?

The AMA specs document shows the same length, diameter, and wall thickness dimension for 3-speed, 4-speed and automatic small-blocks (49.56" x 2.75" x .065"); the different part number in the P&A book for Muncie-equipped cars may relate to U-joint yoke indexing. Service prop shafts were just the shaft, with no U-joints or slip yokes.

Thanks John...I was wondering if a Muncie could be installed in place of a Saginaw...guess so.
