Notice the helicopter just off the track. Horst Kwech's Mustang went off the track on lap 8 at 120mph in the wet and went through the
fence injuring 12 people, one fatally. The helicopter was taking the most seriously injured man to the hospital but he did not survive.

More stunningly good photos, thank you Jon,  It looks like a dirty hard race for everyone involved.
Ron must have been at just about every vantage point of the track judging by the variety of shot locations.

You're welcome, Bruce. Here's a shot of Parnelli Jones' Mustang showing body damage from contact made with
Milt Minter's Firebird on lap 6. Both cars ended up in the mud but Jones got out fairly quickly. It took Minter
7 more laps by the rest of the field before he was able to finally get it back on the course.
