I can't find the link, but I have it saved and the answer sounds like no.  The real 69's had a flat bottom.  The 70 Chevelle had the ridges and so did the repros.  If some 70 Chevelle air cleaners were used on 69's Camaros, I can't answer that.  The info was at Team Camaro.

There was some evidence that late 69 Camaros recevied the 2nd design ZL2 Air cleaner (ridged bottom).  I would say either is fine for the Oct 69 (late) date, but a real one would have a 90 deg curved breather tube.  repros and later service had 2 45 deg bends

I'm not sure of the exact cut in but I have found several late June built survivors with the ribbed bottom air cleaners. I believe July and beyond had the ribbed configuration from what I have observed.

I have a wierd ridged bottom ZL2 cleaner with a 1" 90 deg tube, that I guess is a 70. but since it has a different more rounded snorkle instead of the more square one, I am having trouble finding a buyer. :(    wish i could figure out exactly what model/year car it came off of!

there sould also be 3 notches noticeable on the ribbed area that circles the air filter they are about 10''  apart  also on the snrkel on the area where the metal is joined there are 2 1/4 '' cuts on the seam side going down the edge a few inches apart, anyone with a repro should look to see if the manufacturer added that detail.

The Auto has the snorkel which has the 2" or so dia pipe leading down to the Exhaust manifold doesn't it?

I have seen a differance between factory installed cowl air cleaners for model yr 1970 which a aug through nov 69 would be the air cleaner did not have the wrinkled metal areas as described near the cutout for the distributer but a completely smooth metal much nicer than the over the counter factory air cleaner it also came on factory chevelle cowl inductions does anyone have anything further on the differances between over the counter and from the factory installed at that time, both did have the 3 dimples in the area of the air filter base.
