First you can use a needle/seat assembly that does not have the “windows” in the bottom of the seat. This will block the fuel from being able to enter the seat and flow back.

if you do this you can run out of fuel on the high performance engines because all the fuel has to come up passed the needle and that is a restriction. most rebuild kits come with out a windowed needle seat and i would recommend you drill a .125 diameter hole thru the needle seat right above the seat to allow the fuel to come out into the float bowl without having to go up passed the needle

in that long post they say to applying a coat of JBWeld.

I have read that JB Weld and ethanol don't mix. It seems that the ethanol blended gasoline will soften the JB Weld.
I don't think JB Weld should be used in a carb but they do claim it is gasoline "resistant"

when a Q jet is upside down the float holds the needle valve closed just from the weight of the float just the same as any other carb. that is how i check the needle/seat for leaks when i rebuild them by turning the Q jet upside down and applying air pressure to the fuel inlet

 Earlier in this thread, Kurt mentioned that the LM1 did not have the return line. I think he might be mistaken on that one. My LM1 with Qjet has the return line. Maybe Kurt will clarify for us.

My 69 L48 Q jet also has a fuel return line.  Shown in assembly manual page 298 UPC L48 A3.
