Greetings,

An all time classic road test from the July 1968 issue of Car & Driver between an honest '68 Z/28 with all the dealer-installed SCCA Trans Am trimmings and the only '68 Tunnel Port 302 Mustang Ford could conjure equipped with any number of phantom parts and subassemblies riding along.  Sam Posey was called upon to afford a track test, whereas the article remains a favorite of mine from the period.  Why the link?  Here they include the entire slate of photographs taken during the shoot for the story versus the five or six published, hence about sixty images are included in total if I recall correctly.  Great fun this:

Thanks for posting that, Mike. I always loved that particular article and it's neat to see some other photos from that weekend, even if some of them are flipped around the wrong way.

Greetings,

Apparently the David Friedman Collection is now up and accessible to those who would frequent the Henry Ford (Museum)/Benson Ford Research Center.  The flickr account listed below will guide the way for those so-inclined.  A trio of '69 Craig Fisher ex T-G Firebird images taken at Laguna Seca '70 are seen on this teaser page, while surely there is much, much more to be examined.

Greetings,

A variation on the very first post that make up this thread, this being a link to the photo file containing all images saved on the Facebook Historic SCCA Trans Am page. Materials accessed thus are in no particular order and stretch well into the 1990's, but odd things do appear and as is characteristic of the Internet, one can never tell when some surprising image will surface and where.  Perhaps a means to economy for skimming photo content alone for trying this:

I just read that C & D road test with Posey driving those tricked out street cars - was pleased to note that my Q time in 71 at 1:06 with 3:73 gears wasn't all that bad.

I just stumbled across a web site for the Speed Merchants that sells an interesting poster that includes the major 1970 Trans Am participants for $25 and several original color photographs from the 1970 and 1971 Trans Am seasons.  They also sell  other racing photos and items.  The Trans Am items are available here: http://www.autosportsltd.com/?s=trans+am&post_type=product

Here is a link to a thread on the Alfa Bulletin Board entitled, "Alfas in Trans Am."  It currently has 66 pages and has posts going back to 2005.  While this is a site geared to the under 2.0 class in general, and Alfas in particular, it still contains some great info and pictures.

While looking through the above mentioned "Alfas in Trans Am" thread, I came across a link to a web site that has several black and white pictures of Trans Am and A/Sedan cars and races interspersed with other non Trans Am cars and races: http://gallery.ovr-scca.org/?Dir=%2FHistorical/Wheel+2+Wheel+Racing  This is the picture gallery for Ohio Valley Region of the SCCA, so there are a lot of pics of Mid-Ohio.  There are some great pics of 1st and 2nd Gen Camaro Trans Am race cars here, unfortunately there isn't any info on what the pictures are.  Color images of the 1968 Mid-Ohio Trans Am race appear on pages 21 and 22.  Has anyone seen these pics??

This last link has a bunch of Trans Am stuff spread throughout the pages and in no particular order so you need to look closely.  Some 71' TA shots, Warren Tope, the Hoselton Hugger , Hall Camaro with the data transmission equip, etc.  Thanks for the link

Greetings,

Most of us have stumbled upon the following website in passing without making much note of it.  Single photographs, some Ron Lathrup materials reposted, but some odd images too.  If you absolutely need color photo images of late '70 season T-G Firebird Trans Ams in Blue with lurid GREEN numerals, etc., there really isn't any place else to go to see such.  The links provided lead to the root directory as per year and event, whereas click further to review who or what was entered with or without accompanying photograph(s).  Thanks...

Greetings,

Much in the style of Getty Images, here is the Associated Press photo archive.  Expect to experiment with abandon to generate results of interest, but all the same, a resource to explore:
