Transmission VIN and Build Date

This transmission has the VIN of 19N 678549 with build date of June 3. Here's the puzzling part to me.
My car's transmission is VIN 19N667804 with build date of June 24.
How can this happen? 10,745 cars built after mine but dated 3 weeks before of mine.

I don't know if this needs to go into the orphans section or not.

Daniel,

This might help...4 different assembly plants. Look under "Service Engine & Transmission Identification...down towards the bottom of the page.

All the Service Engine and Transmission Id is for service replacement for warranty work. That would be how an engine or transmission would be stamped if it was replaced.

Yup...at any rate I still think it has to do with the number of plants, ie; Siginaw, Toledo, Cleveland, Warren & Willow run...

This is a Muncie transmission and Muncie only had one plant in Muncie Indiana. Serial numbers for Muncie 4 speeds always begin with the letter "P". P stands for Muncie Plant. The letter M was used to ID the Muncie plant for the Muncie 3 speed, so P was the next logical letter.

It just means that the June 3rd transmission sat in the back of the off-line storage bay for two weeks before that pallet got pulled out and taken to the line. I'll say it again - NOBODY in the plant paid any attention whatsoever to dates on parts; all that mattered was the part number. Muncie transmissions were shipped on open wooden pallets, 4 layers high, with 8 transmissions per layer, and the pallets at the back of the storage bay could sit there for a while before the stock got low enough to expose them to the hi-lo driver who took them to the line.

Daniel, for comparison, here's a Muncie 4-speed transmission with a partial VIN of 9N678402 which was assembled on June 25th...

Thanks for the information guys. I just thought it was odd but now I know nothing is guaranteed.
Paul thanks for putting it in the orphans.
