sheet metal dating
« on: April 04, 2011, 11:22:15 PM »
Would someone please help me with determining whether or not my sheet metal is original?  I read thru CRG info and know (I think) how to dechipher the #'s, but where are they?
I found the one on the hood.  It's original. Can't find anything on the deck lid.  What's left are all the fenders and door panels. Can one find the date stamps without removing them? If so, exactly where should they be?

Thanks!

Here's a link that might help.

The deck lid is off center to the right about half way top to bottom.
The doors are stamped inside under the door panels. I can't remember exact but I think they are pretty close to center also.
The quarter panels are stamped in the gasket valley in the corners at the seams to the filler panel behind back glass.
The header panel is on the underside close to center off set to passenger side.
I don't recall about the valance panel. Sorry
A tel tel sign the rockers are original it will have brass in the joint fastening it to the quarter.

Here's a couple of photos of the stamps on the quarters...
