When was the 1967 SS first built? What month was the 396 offered? Im getting different opinions on this subject.

First small block SS was built in September 66, they were available right from the start of production.  L35 Big blocks came about during January of 67, L78's came about later around March of 67.  L34s were never available in a 67 Camaro.

Not even close. It was in PHR years ago with photos of the VIN & body tags. I have seen it at a few shows.

Sorry to mislead. I meant serial number LA SS car. This is the car that sold millions of teenagers on Camaros, including me. They tested it every month with differant modifications and drag tests, first as a 3650 then puttting in a 396. Finally admitted it was ALL faked when the 50th anniversay HR mag came out. The "396" engine they tested was really a factory reworked 427, etc. All the times were lies.

Not faulting you at all Maroman. Much like the '68 Z/28 convert stories about this car have grown over time.

It IS the Hot Rod test car and would certainly make anyone's Top Ten list of significant first-gen Camaros. I still have my subscription issue from '67.

What it is not is a pilot car, engineering mule, tech center car. Standard production unit built the 3rd or 4th day of production at Norwood August 1966.
